Le GBB est le membre belge de la ‘Fédération Internationale du Béton’ et organise la représentation de la Belgique auprès des différents groupes de travail et commissions de la fib. Les travaux et les publications de la fib comme fib-news, le magazine ‘Structural Concrete’ et les bulletins techniques sont ainsi accessibles aux professionnels belges du monde de la construction.

The General Assembly of fib (fédération internationale du béton/International Federation for Structural Concrete) had a historic meeting in Lausanne on 29 October 2011. We took an important decision and approved the fib Model Code 2010. After a necessary final editorial review it will be published.  32 fib member countries participated in taking this decision by the General Assembly directly or by authorisation, giving 71 votes that were exercised out of 79 overall votes. I take this opportunity to thank all of you and your colleagues who participated either in the preparation of the draft text or in providing comments. Special thanks to Joost Walraven and Agnieszka Bigaj-van Vliet who did an extraordinary work in coordinating and organising the group as well as editing the whole document.

We all hope that fib Model Code 2010 will be an important document for local or international code committees as well as for practitioners and for researchers in the future.
